It's an unfortunate truth that we all encounter aggression and conflict on occasion. For some, this is a regular feature of their working lives.
Do you face unpleasant or frightening situations at work? Are you required to deal with angry or threatening people?
If your answer is ‘yes’, our Safe and Sound programme has been designed for you.
Complete this programme and you will feel ready to manage challenging conversations and circumstances. The next time you find yourself in a situation that could erupt into conflict, you’ll be prepared. You’ll know what to say and do to avoid trouble and keep yourself safe. Above all, you will feel more confident in your decision making, especially when it comes to leaving a tricky situation.

Safe and Sound: Practically Simple - Engagingly Different

A warm welcome from Dave

Who is Safe and Sound for?

People who engage with the public through their work.

Do you encounter angry or aggressive people? Do you have to ask people to do things they are reluctant to do? If you want to feel confident, and ready to manage challenging conversations and difficult situations like these, this programme is for you.

Countryside workers who balance land management with people engagement.

Are you faced with situations that can erupt into conflict - perhaps someone refusing to put their dog on a lead or lighting a barbecue in a fire risk zone? This programme is for you if you want to know what to say and do at such times to avoid trouble and keep yourself safe.

Busy people, juggling a multitude of tasks and commitments.

Our programme allows you to go at your own pace so you can build your skill at times that work best for you. Our motto is “practice makes permanent” - you can review and revisit each module until you are ready to move on.

“The course has made me think a lot more about my own safety before I enter a situation. The scenarios and examples of sentences were very helpful. It has increased my confidence and given me great practical advice and ideas to take out with me every day.”

Safe and Sound distils:

Practical experience gained over 30 years in the countryside sector.

Approaches refined through delivery of personal communication and safety training to thousands of people in different sectors since 2008.

Up-to-date knowledge and thinking from leading practitioners in applied psychology and human behaviour.

“Dave clearly has huge amounts of knowledge and personal experience around the topic and is really good at breaking down topics into easy-to-understand bites.”
